Mustafa Kemal Atatürk

One of the most outstanding politicians of the 20th century is Mustafa Kemal, President of the newly created Turkish Republic from 1923 to 1938 and at the same time its founder. In 1934, the »Turkish Grand National Assembly« bestowed on him the honorary name »Atatürk«, i.e. »Father of the Turks«, in recognition of his extraordinary services to the Turkish Republic.
